Scottish Rite Cathedral

The Scottish Rite Cathedral at 725 Cotton Street is recognized as one of the most architecturally significant buildings in downtown Shreveport. Designed in the Beaux Arts style by prominent Shreveport architect Edward F. Neild Sr., the building—which includes a three-level auditorium with seating for five hundred, a large banquet hall, and an all-marble lobby flanked by matching marble staircases—was dedicated on Nov. 12, 1917. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

The Scottish Rite Cathedral continues to serve as headquarters of the Shreveport Consistory of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, a fraternal organization. The building is available for event rentals such as weddings and corporate meetings.
