“Join us for this special free program presented by Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser and the Louisiana Division of the Arts, in partnership with the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities, Shreveport Regional Arts Council, and Louisiana Public Broadcasting.
The presentation, Louisiana’s Gift to America: A Musical Legacy brings Louisiana’s rich and diverse musical traditions to center stage, celebrating the artists, communities, traditions, and cultural heritage that have influenced and shaped the sound of America, bringing together three distinctive Louisiana artists and musical forces:
Beausoleil avec Michael Doucet
The Dr. Michael White Quartet
A.J. Haynes - Lead vocalist of the Seratones
Few places have contributed more distinctive sounds to America’s musical story than Louisiana. Its rhythms, traditions, and cultural influences have traveled far beyond the state—from the infectious energy of zydeco and Cajun music to the soulful roots of jazz and swamp blues. For the nation’s 250th anniversary, Louisiana’s Gift to America will celebrate this extraordinary musical legacy through a vibrant, multidisciplinary performance that shines a light on the people, places, and traditions that have left an indelible mark on American music.
