“From the artist!
I've always had a slight obsession with neon and vaporwave aesthetics. Old arcades, late nights- a nostalgia for an era when i actually lived my life. This body of work is a way for me to celebrate a few of my favorite pieces and the sweet clients that chose to wear them on their bodies.
I enjoy drawing the surreal, fantastical things. But the most surreal thing will always be that people out there decide to have my artwork on them forever and somehow trust me enough to design them from scratch.
This features large fully colored drawings of tattoo designs as well as photos of the finished tattoos. And some pieces that were never tattooed.
I always tend to spend way more time on designing the tattoos than I do actually tattooing them. The designing never gets easier because my goal posts always move. And if you think of it like origami, someone will bring me their thoughts and dreams laid out flat, and it's my job to fold them into a hopefully cohesive design. And then this finished tattoo origami flies away and I may not ever even see it again. My baby becomes a part of them and becomes a part of memories that I will never see.
I spend SO much of my time constantly working towards the next thing that i never really take the time to relax and celebrate my accomplishments. At times that i do look back on things, it can feel as if I've been sleeping through my own life and observing it through a fog- a reverie of neon lights and folded dreams. ""
