“Happy Pride Month, everybody!
We are so excited to kick-off the month with a fabulous celebration of friends and community. June 1 coincides with our #MovieMonday, so we'll be screening PACE's documentary Closet2Pride: Memoirs of Shreveport.
This film premiered at PACE’s OUTnorthLa Film Festival on March 2, 2024, at the Robinson Film Center.
From outnorthla.org: "Closet2Pride: Memoirs of Shreveport delves into the historical background of the LGBTQ+ community's struggles and successes, featuring heartfelt interviews, archival footage, and personal stories. It explores the challenges of coming out and living authentically in a conservative environment, addressing discrimination, violence, and social stigma. The documentary also celebrates the community's unity in the fight for rights and serves as a powerful reminder of the ongoing struggle for acceptance and equality. "
