Feb. 2 | PARIS IS BURNING

This 1990 documentary chronicles the underground ball culture of New York City during the late 1980s. Through intimate interviews and competition footage, it explores how Black and Latinx queer communities created “houses” as chosen families to navigate a world marked by poverty, racism, and the AIDS crisis.

Feb. 9 | SORDID LIVES

Sordid Lives is a 2000 cult classic black comedy that follows three generations of a dysfunctional white trash Texas family as they gather for the funeral of their matriarch, who died in a hilariously scandalous motel room accident. Feb. 9 is also National Pizza Day, so we’ll have some slices for everyone to snack on.

Feb. 16 | THE SONS OF TENNESSEE WILLIAMS

Since it’s Mardi Gras week, we have to know our roots! This 2010 documentary charts the decades-long evolution of gay Mardi Gras in New Orleans, profiling the brave men who founded elaborate “krewes” to celebrate their identity in the face of legal discrimination and social prejudice.

Feb. 23 | MOONLIGHT

Moonlight (2016) follows a young Black man named Chiron as he navigates his identity, sexuality, and the pressures of hyper-masculinity while growing up in a rough Miami neighborhood.
